Blue Marlin, The Air Force and Norfolk Island - an unlikely pairing

What do Pinetree Tours, Blue Marlin and the Royal Australian Air Force have in common? You would be forgiven for thinking not a lot. But last week on Norfolk Island they all came together - and our passengers got to experience them all!

Blue Marlin for all!

An amazing sight on the Pinetree Tours Orientation tour recently was when our bus called in at Cascade Pier just in time to see this incredible fish unload!

In our mild winter on Norfolk Island, the boys are still getting out and smashing the fishing records. Recently the Greenwood boys from Greenwoods Fishing Adventures were out with their passengers catching Skipjack Tuna when they were buzzed by this 190kg Blue Marlin. After a 2.5 hour battle they managed to land the massive fish.

The boys and their passengers were ecstatic as you can imagine! None of the marlin was wasted with it being smoked and used around the Island, and our Operations Manager John was lucky enough to try some and said it was "absolutely delicious!"

The RAAF stopped by

Another group of lucky passengers on our Orientation Tour were treated to an unusual sighting on Norfolk Island. While we wish we could say we organised this just for our wonderful passengers, unfortunately it was not us, but the RAAF!

While passing the airport on our tour, we were pleasantly surprised to watch these RAAF planes land.

The two seater Pilatus PC-21 is the worlds most advanced pilot training aircraft capable of 685 kilometers per hour. They certainly made an impressive sight landing on the run way at Norfolk Island.
